More About Portage Real Estate
Portage features many well-established neighborhoods, with wide streets, spacious yards, and mature trees. The homes for sale in these areas tend to be small to medium sized detached family homes from the 1960s to 1990s. As such, they reflect the common styles of these areas, most notably the vinyl-on-brick bi-level.
These homes come in a variety of configurations, from ranch to garrison house, and provide their owners with a lot of space and comfort. Large basements, rear decks, and generous attached garages are practically standard.
Other details one can expect are fireplaces, garden sheds, and traditional exterior details like wooden shutters. For homes that haven't undergone extensive remodeling, buyers can still find vintage wood panels and custom cabinets. In updated versions, tile and fresh paint are more common.
For first time buyers, or those looking for a rental property, the portage real estate market also includes many cottages and small minimal-traditional homes. These too are on spacious lots for their size, and most commonly finished in vinyl siding, with shutters and covered entries.
There are also new construction homes for sale in Portage, built from the 2000s onward. These homes provide a bit more space, with vaulted or tray ceilings, and open plan living spaces connected to kitchens via a center island or breakfast bar.
Other interior features for these homes include double vanities and sinks, walk-in showers, pantries, and closets, and 3+ car garages. Exterior styles vary between new-traditional designs in frame, shingle, and board, with covered porches; and stately brick manors with voussoir accents, quoins, and large windows.
Overall, in Portage you'll be struck by the charming and inviting atmosphere of the residential streets, with rolling lawns and picket fences. These neighborhoods are perfect for families.
